In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, life felt both fragile and uncertain. Weeks without power or water, no work, little connection to the outside world—it was a time of deep reflection, of questioning how to move forward in a world that is shifting beneath our feet.

Through it all, I have leaned into my practices—meditation, Restorative Yoga, and breathwork—allowing them to hold me like the steady ground beneath the storm. But I have also been leaning into something just as sacred: creativity.

Painting again. Visioning and dreaming up our garden. Watching tiny green shoots break through the earth as a reminder that life insists on growing, even after the harshest seasons. Writing. Sketching. Weaving dreams into reality.

And more than that—an old dream is stirring again, ready to be birthed. One I had placed gently to the side, waiting for the right moment. And maybe that’s the lesson in all of this: that even in times of uncertainty, creation is a form of resilience. That tending to beauty is an act of faith. That returning to the dreams we once put away is its own kind of renewal.

So, I am creating. Not just art, but a life. A space for what is next. A place where new roots can grow.

Lately, I’ve been sitting with the practice of honoring every moment as sacred. Which is *not* always easy.

When I step beyond the walls of my home, I often feel the disconnection in the world—faces turned down, attention somewhere far away. And sometimes, I feel the tug of judgment rise in me, a wave of wondering, what’s happened to us?

But these moments are part of the practice too. I catch myself spiraling outward, pulled into the noise, the collective overwhelm.

And then I remember: This is the practice.

I take a breath. I feel my feet on the earth. I invite my spine into the steady presence of Tadasana—not just in form, but in essence.

And in that moment, I come back.

Back to the breath.

Back to the body.

Back to the stillness within the noise.

Each time I do this, the pull of the outer world feels less gripping. The space between reaction and return grows shorter. What felt heavy lightens. What felt chaotic softens.

And then I’m here, fully here.

And in this moment, I remember: All is well.

There’s something profoundly healing in this remembering. A deep knowing that right here, in the simplicity of presence, is the wholeness I’ve been seeking.

Each breath is an opening. Each moment, an invitation. And with each return, I feel a quiet *yes* to life, to the infinite possibility unfolding just beyond the horizon.

Over the past year, my dream garden has come to life, the source of the essence I dreamed about for my home. It's been a love story, woven with generosity from students, family, and friends. Each day, I wake up to new magic blossoming.

I see neighbors passing by with smiles, and as I stroll through the gates, I'm embraced by tranquility. My garden teaches me to be present, trust more, and stay grounded. In 2008, I embarked on a life-altering journey – my first 200-hour yoga teacher training. I recall it vividly like it happened yesterday - a truly transformative experience that changed my life in ways I never imagined. Little did I know then that, over 15 years later, I would have the privilege of sharing my deep love for yoga and the wisdom accumulated from teaching worldwide with aspiring teachers from every corner of the globe with some of the most renowned teachers in the world.

Just a few months ago, a phone call from my dear sister, @splattfinger ushered in another significant chapter in my life. Sarah, the Director of @chopra Yoga at the @nutritionschool , alongside the renowned @deepakchopra , crafted an exceptional and comprehensive 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training program. Their invitation to serve as a Lead Teacher on this transformative journey left me profoundly honored.

As I prepare to guide our students, starting this Sunday, I can't help but feel a mix of excitement and nervousness. Although I've dedicated months to preparation, insecurities do emerge. In those moments, I gently remind myself to return to my breath, ground in to my body, and access the boundless wisdom within my heart.

Being a teacher is a sacred privilege, and I approach this new opportunity with deep reverence. My most heartfelt prayer is that my new students will be profoundly inspired and embraced by the love that emanates from my heart to theirs.

This journey transcends mere yoga postures; it's a quest to connect with the core of our being, to discover inner stillness, and to illuminate the path for others. Together, we'll plunge into the profound wisdom of yoga, and I am ecstatic to embark on this incredible journey with each student. I am profoundly humbled to be on this path and express gratitude with every breath.

Everything about our time together in Venice to celebrate the loving union of our sweet friends, the LoveJoy’s daughter Katie and her now husband Andrew was perfect.

To have this time with my mom was truly a gift. It was the first trip we have taken just the two of us in many years without my father.

My dad’s presence was most definitely missed but we did our best to be present in this new chapter that is our lives without him.

And being with friends who are like family who loved him for years felt so good.

After many years of searching, I can honestly say that I have found my home.

After the most heartbreaking, healing and transformative year of my life, I took a leap of faith, packed up my belongings and moved to Asheville, NC.

This town has been on my radar for years, but like most places I have landed in over the course of my travels, I knew and trusted that the time to be here would be very clear.

I know this to be true when things/ planning/ decisions flow effortlessly. Gracefully. Being in flow is definitely a huge indicator of my internal compass being in the right direction.

And now I am here. I wake up every day feeling like I can exhale. I am surrounded by kindred spirits, empaths, sensitives, healers, teachers, nature lovers and innovators.

My heart feels happy, full, inspired.

I feel present, grounded and hopeful.

But mostly I am grateful.

Grateful for the opportunity to be here.

When my father was killed in February, it felt as though my brain, as well as my heart, had been broken and was held hostage by the horror of his fateful accident.

For the first few months, I experienced the deepest depression I had ever gone through and truly could not imagine being able to pull myself out.

I strongly contemplated ending my life in order to end the suffering.

I am sharing this now with the hope that my experience may help someone else who is suffering deeply right now.

I found my way through by the support of amazing friends, and family, daily therapy and then eventually by returning to my yoga practice.

Some days my yoga would be simply resting in child’s pose for a half an hour.

Eventually more life came back in through movement, dance, jumping up and down and allowing random sounds to pour out.

The most important part was to allow myself to feel the waves of grief deeply.

To cry, to scream, to wail.

To allow it to show up without judgement or a need to repress it.

Now, after months of healing, I finally feel a peace returning to my heart.

The light has come back and I can breathe again.

I don’t feel this way all of the time (does anyone really?) but I can honestly say that my inner storm is stiller.

I can see the sun through the clouds again and see the blessing in the experience.

I miss my father every day but I really do feel his presence all around me and I know he would want nothing more than for me to just enjoy every second in this precious body. And so I will with love, tenderness and acceptance.

On February 15th, my father was hit and killed by a car while crossing the street. My mother and I witnessed the tragic nightmare. In an instant our lives completely changed.

I moved to Florida to be closer to my parents as they got older after I had been living overseas for over nine years. I knew and expected, as is the cycle of life, that my parents human experience was shortening which is why I wanted to soak up as much time with them as possible.

Over the last 3 years I have been blessed to spend an enormous amount of time with both my parents, especially my father.

My dad was quite simply my best friend and favorite person in the world. He and I would have weekly lunches just the two of us and would discuss everything from yoga to politics. We spoke every day and never ended a call without saying "I love you."

The experience has been devastating and deeply traumatizing for me. I have been incredibly fortunate to connect with an EMDR therapist who works with victims of extreme PTSD and trauma. After several months of daily visits, the horrific loop of seeing my father getting hit by the car has softened. There is more distance in my brain now around it. But the anxiety and depression is still very present.

I am actively engaged in healing my mind and heart and doing my best to take care of my mother as well. Yoga, meditation, painting, acupuncture, EMDR and the unending support of my dearest network of friends and family has been a literal life saver.

I miss my dad every second but I also know he is here and will always be with me.

On the first of the year, I launched my own online Yoga studio. There was no preparation, no elaborate planning, it just happened because it had to. And now I realize it also happened because it was meant to.

In a month’s time, I have been amazed and humbled by the organic growth and support. Even though I often feel overwhelmed by the additional work and long days, I am in awe of how amazing it feels to be able to share in a way that feels completely unique to me and my intention to share practices from a place of genuine authenticity, experience and love.

Over the last 5 weeks, I have been guiding students through the Yamas, which are ethical ways of being in the world according to Yogic Philosophy. We are now on week 5, Aparigraha, which means ‘non-attachment’. It’s been fascinating diving into this for myself as I witness my own personal attachments to outcome especially with this new business venture. My daily practice is to be present, to breathe and take one step at a time.

Ultimately, life has shown me that things always fall into place as long as I stay centered in my heart.

As my teacher in India would say whenever I went to her with an issue, insecurity or fear: “Faith. Trust. Patience. Surrender.”

Like everyone else, this experience has pushed me out of my comfort zone into territory I never imagined diving into. I started sharing classes online, something I never considered doing and am surprised by how much I love. I am grateful to be able to support people at this time, in this way. But I am also witnessing how to balance the urge to take care of others and at the same time take care of myself.

I am thankful for those who show up with a call, a text, a voice message. Those who help me when I no longer know how to help myself. Those who hold space with an open heart, a curious mind and unconditional love.

Two weeks ago, this ray of Light came into my life. In our short time together, his presence has expanded my heart in ways I could never have imagined. Two weeks ago, this ray of Light came into my life. In our short time together, his presence has expanded my heart in ways I could never have imagined. He challenges me daily and makes me laugh until my stomach hurts. He shows me where I need to soften and be more patient. He is my teacher, my healer, my baby.

This is it: This body is home. This is where I live and hang my hat. This is where I settle into my hips and sit easy in myself, slung together with strong muscles and bones, made gentle and forging with flesh. This body is durable, has lasted for years, hunkered down through fierce storms and allows for the peaceful erosion of age. Yesterday I celebrated my 44th Solar Return. Day of Rebirth and Renewal. The celebration began in the sacred mountains of Asheville NC as I witnessed friends pronounce their vows of love to one another. A deep reminder that true love can be found when self love is the priority. This has been my deepest realization and intention over the last year. The vow I will continue to make to myself every day.

Living in Ojai for the last year has been a beautiful, illuminating and sometimes painful dance of seeing myself fully. And then being in full acceptance of what I have seen.

It’s been a year of deep inquiry, creativity, falling apart and falling back together again. The Thomas Fire that ravaged our land, for me, and it seems for most of my dear friends here, has been an opportunity to shed what does not belong; this has shown up as material possessions, fears and some relationships.

One of the revelations for me over the last few months has been how important it now feels to be in closer proximity to my parents as I witness them getting older. To make each moment with them count and just love them up to the fullest.

So as I finish packing and prepare to move back East and into the unknown yet again, I am taking these last little moments on this sacred land to sit in awe and gratitude for the multitude of lessons she has shared trusting and knowing that, in the end, it’s all been in the name of Love.
